Women from Instagram: Vol 1

I enjoy meeting new people. I have never had a face to face chat with these women. It’s just me getting to know different women through social media. Let this post just be a reminder that it doesn’t hurt to be friendly to someone, say hello, or simply smile. There are times when you may run into someone from high school and trust me, you do more when you try to avoid them then actually saying hello. If someone posts a fire selfie on any social media and you think it is then just say it! It might just make that persons day. If someone posts something you like then ask where they got it from or where you can find that certain food spot at. I see so much hate on social media sometimes and I just don’t see the need for it. Instead of spreading negativity, try and do something positive. It cost zero dollars to be nice and you should throw kindness around like confetti. These questions aren’t supposed to get deep into their darkest secrets. I just wanted to ask questions they didn’t really have to think about.

1.What’s something you feel strongly about?
“Practicing self-love. I feel strongly about this because even though there are a lot of campaigns that promote self-love, it has still become a trend, especially among young adults, to make fun of serious issues like depression, suicide, and low self-esteem. When people take care of themselves mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, they can face any obstacles that come their way. Truly loving yourself for who and what you are will make you into such a happy, strong, and confident person that you will be able to overcome things that others won’t and in doing so you will have the ability to help those people.”
2.What is your favorite spot to eat?
“Tacos Del Gordo. I. Love. Tacos. The campechana fries aren’t too bad either *drooling emoji here*”
3.Where are you from?
“San Diego, California.”
4.How important do you think education is?
“11/10. Education is highly important because it helps people become better functioning adults as well as compassionate and understanding human beings. Plus, the more you know, the more jokes you get.”

“My degree. This past December I finally finished my university after 5.5 years and I majored in Media Studies with a minor in Theater.”
7.What’s one thing the world needs more of?
“Love. It might be a cheesy response but love is made up of so many things: kindness, compassion, empathy, respect, understanding, etc. If people in this world were more loving, maybe we wouldn’t have so many problems.”
8.Where do you most want to travel to?
“Canada. Not the more exotic place, but it has northern lights, poutine, moose, and maybe a second Ryan Reynolds?”
9.What’s the movie you tell your friends to see?

10.What’s your favorite song to sing?

1.What’s something you feel strongly about?
“Reproductive rights for women, fighting rape culture, access to affordable healthcare for everyone, protection and equal for immigrants and minorities…it’s an incredibly pivotal time for these things in the United States, especially for those who can’t afford to tune out and ignore these issues. On a smaller scale, I will fist fight anyone who thinks declawing cats is okay.”
2.What is your favorite spot to eat?
” If you’re ever in NJ, Montclair has some amazing places to eat – Ani Ramen, Egan & Sons (took my engagement photos there!), Mesob for Ethiopian food. I also love End of Elm for brunch and Nagano for all you can eat sushi in Morristown. I have too many favorite spots!”
3.Where are you from?
” Manila, Philippines originally, but I’m in northern New Jersey now.”
4.How important do you think education is?
“We live in a place where I think basic education is taken for granted; it saddens me that many children around the world, girls especially, don’t have access to or are straight up denied basic, quality education. As far as post-secondary: while a bachelor’s degree is a valuable asset, I get that a university education isn’t for everyone, and is becoming increasingly out of reach for many due to costs. Learning a trade or a skill is a great alternative can add incredible value to your life and future as well. It’s what you make of it!”
5.What is your zodiac/horoscope and if it fits your personality?
” I’m a Leo. I’ve toned down the general need for attention and validation since my early 20s, but I’m loyal, stubborn, opinionated, very nurturing, a little brash and impassioned, and still a little needy.”
6.What’s an accomplishment you are proud of?
“For work, one of my favorite accomplishments is the New York Fashion Week partnerships I’ve helped set up with my company. Outside of work – I can’t think of much, which means it’s time to set out to crush some goals!”
7.What’s one thing the world needs more of?
“Compassion. The ability and willingness to see the world through another lens, especially one very different from your own.”
8.Where do you most want to travel to?
” I would love to visit Greece again; I went as a kid for a student ambassador program and it was my favorite country to visit/eat – there’s so much history! I would also love to travel back to the Philippines soon. Boracay Island is beautiful!”
9.What’s the movie you tell your friends to see?
“The House of Sand and Fog is one of my favorite movies – I cried like a baby. As long as you can find humor in assassin movies, I also recommend Mr. Right.”
10.What’s your favorite song to sing?
” If I’m totally honest, anything Disney, but especially from Tangled. I wish I had an Adele or Amy voice, but I have a Disney princess voice, so I’m playing to my strengths in this department.”
11.Happiness is?
“Sitting on the couch with my fiance, our cat curled up between us, with a good book and a bowl of mashed potatoes or mac and cheese.”
12.What series do you recommend watching on Netflix, Hulu, etc?

“I just started This is Us and have ugly cried through every episode that’s aired so far, so I guess you can say I recommend it. Mostly I love shows that make me laugh: The Office, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Love Sick, Bob’s Burgers. Quantico, How to Get Away with Murder, and Revenge held me for a while, too. If you’re into comedic  cartoons that are unexpectedly thought-provoking and sad, give Rick and Morty and Bojack Horseman a try.”

 Till next time
